FAQWho are the Band Boosters?Aledo Band Boosters is a non-profit organization to help promote the Aledo Band program. Members include parents, neighbors and friends; anyone interested in helping out. The purpose of the Aledo Band Boosters is to be for the benefit of the band program members of Aledo Independent School District. The organization shall be non-commercial, non-sectarian, and non-partisan, among other things as listed in our current bylaws. Booster Supported EventsThe Aledo Band Boosters raise money for the bands through the following events:
The money raised at these events is used to help pay for band supplies, equipment, repairs, end of year parties, trip travel expenses, and other band needs as identified by the band directors. A portion of the money raised is also used to provide scholarships for graduating band seniors. Concession standFor home football games, all proceeds from the Aledo Band Boosters concession stand sales go back into the band program. Volunteers are needed to work the first half (+ half time) shift or the second half shift. It's easy, you get into the game for free, and you'll see all your friends and neighbors. Merchandise SalesFor home football games, all proceeds from the Aledo Band Boosters merchandise stand sales go back into the band program. We need volunteers to help out in shifts (pre-game setup, 1st quarter, 2nd quarter, half-time, 3rd quarter). It's easy, you get into the game for free, and you'll see all your friends and neighbors. Aledo hosts the Unleash the Sound Marching Festivalon October 9, 2010. Lots of volunteers are needed to make this event successful. Volunteers position available include: Band Hall monitor, Auditorium Monitor, band leader, clean up crew, concessions, director check-in, DLC monitor, elevator monitor, first aid, gopher/general help, hospitality, merchandise, parking lot crew, pedestrian, program designer/advertising sales, set up crew, stadium entry, ticket collector, ticket sales, trash patrol, volunteer check-in, water table. Chili SupperOctober, AHS Cafeteria Band parents bring their favorite pot of chili or a dessert to share. The high school marching band, high school jazz band, and the middle school jazz band provide the musical entertainment. Donations will be accepted to raise money for the Aledo Band Booster scholarship fund. Volunteers are needed to: bring a pot of chilli, bring chips, bring cheese and onions, bring dessert, judge the contest, help set up, serve chili and desserts, and cleanup. Auction and DinnerJanuary, 2011, AHS cafeteria The Auction and Dinner is the biggest fund raiser for the band program and is essential to pay for a variety of band program needs. The outstanding efforts made this past years' band auction very successful, providing $15,662.92 for the Aledo band program! Volunteers are needed to help set up, cleanup, cashiers, serve dessert, serve dinner, collect dinner tickets, serve drinks, live auction runners, live auction spotters, pie area cleanup, pie area setup, pie maker, pie runner, program/advertising, silent auction table monitors, volunteer table, will call/bid number distribution, auction item solicitation, mail outs. Cafe ConcertFebruary, 2011, AHS cafeteria The high school bands provide the musical entertainment and the band boosters provide the refreshments for this annual event. Volunteers are needed to: bring a dessert, serve desserts/drinks, setup, cleanup. All donations received from this event go towards the Scholarship fund. Color Guard CompetitionFebruary, 2011, AHS Gym Aledo will be hosting a color guard competition in the Spring. The following volunteer positions are available: auditorium monitor, guides, cleanup, concessions, guard check-in, DLC monitor, first aid, gopher/general help/sound assistant, hospitality (judges and instructors), merchandise, parking lot crew, inspection, setup crew (night before), spectator gym entrance, ticket collector, ticket sales, volunteer check-in, warm-up gym, signs/programs, video monitor, floor help.
